Fox News Fires Showbiz Columnist For "Promoting" Piracy

When I read the Roger Friedman article, I was surprised that it made it to print. What was he thinking? Obviously, piracy is illegal. If you watch pirated movies, the last thing you want to do is publicize the fact. If he wanted to write about that, he should have taken up anonymous blogging (even then he would have been caught, eventually).

If he really wanted to do some hard-hitting journalism, he could have written an exposé on the seedy underbelly of movie piracy. Then he may have gotten a Peabody and a free pass to view all of the illegal downloads he wanted...for research purposes, of course.

Fergie is my hero

Not only does she sing while in an awkward, bent position--she sings while doing single-handed cartwheels. She doesn't lose her breath or her pitch. Fergie is a true entertainer.

An article about Britney AND BlackBerrys

New technology has changed the face of journalism. Salon chides a celebrity journalist for confirming facts solely through BlackBerry text messages.

According to inTouch Weekly, Britney is pregnant with her third child. I haven't been able to confirm this for  myself; Britney won't answer my PIN messages. (Hey, I only communicate with some folks that way. What's wrong with text messages? We are in a new age, people.) http://machinist.salon.com/blog/2007/11/30/blackberry_reporting/index.html

MTV Glamorization of Religion?

I read the article that I have linked below. My initial reaction was: What about a little prayer for the people of Darfur? What about the hungry and the homeless? What about the sick? Sure, it's nice to pray. If you truly believe, then you see everyone as a child of God...but come on. These celebrities have wads of cash and no limits to the number of people that they can turn to or hire for help. It seems to me that God has blessed these celebrities greatly and that they are squandering their blessings and good fortune.

That was my initial reaction.

But, after reading further in the article, I saw where this group is coming from. I have long heard of the practice of praying for leaders. It is a practice that many religions, not just Christianity, endorse. Using that line of thinking, as the article even points out, it makes sense to pray for the people who have great influence and impact on younger generations.

Hollywood Christian Group Prays For Out-Of-Control Celebrities

Anyone who thinks Britney Spears' best days are behind should know this — she does have a prayer.

The celebuwreck, who has been struggling to get custody of her kids while launching a comeback, is the top prayer-getter at the Hollywood Prayer Network, a group of more than 5,000 Christians that prays for stars instead of writing them off as lost causes.

The network recently passed a Bible to socialite Paris Hilton and plans to pass one to Spears later this month. It also picks up-and-coming child stars for its monthly Kids Prayer Calendar and pairs hundreds of mentors with struggling actors, the kind more likely to take your order in a restaurant than appear on your television.
