John Mayer ditches his BlackBerry Bold (Yes, he got one early)
John Mayer was one of the few people on this planet who actually had and used a BlackBerry Bold, despite the fact that it hasn't been officially released yet. The only other person that I can think of, off the top of my head, who already has a BlackBerry Bold is Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO of Research In Motion. So how Mayer got one is beyond me. He obviously knows someone. But being well-connected is not really all that surprising in Hollywood.
What is surprising is that he has been seen recently sans BlackBerry Bold. That's right. It looks like he has ditched his BlackBerry Bold and has gone back to using his BlackBerry Curve (which is the phone that I use).
There are rumors that the release of the BlackBerry Bold is being delayed due to battery issues. Could this be why Mayer is no longer using the phone that he once touted as the be all end all of smartphones? We'll see.
I, for one, was planning to buy the BlackBerry Bold as soon as I could get my hands on one. Now I'm considering whether or not I should wait a bit. I'll definitely get one, but I may wait for the next model up. I don't know. Then again, I just may be camped out in front of the store on the BlackBerry Bold release day like the insane BlackBerry fanatic that I am. Only time will tell.
