Buzzwinkle is Dead

The calm, much-loved, Anchorage moose will probably best be remembered for his fondness for fermented crab apples and Christmas lights. He was often spotted downtown near popular bars and other nightlife hotspots.
He was an accident-prone character, getting his antlers tangled on more than one occasion. In 2004, Buzzwinkle got his antlers tangled in a rope swing. After that incident he was tagged. His tag, along with his occasional drunken behavior, made him easy to distinguish from other Anchorage moose.
Old age, bad teeth and an infected injury to his left hindquarter led to his demise. He was put down by an area wildlife biologist after he was found severely emaciated and unable to get up in the Spenard area of Anchorage.
Buzzwinkle will be missed.
